Head Injuries
The head is one of the most vulnerable parts of the human body. When an individual receives excessive force to his or her head, the results can be fatal. Many head trauma injuries can be prevented. Deaths resulting from head injuries may be someone’s fault, in which case he or she should be held accountable for the terrible harm done.

Effects of Head Injuries
There are two types of head injuries: penetrative and blunt.
- Penetrative head injuries occur when an object penetrates the skull. These are usually caused by sharp objects such as knives, screwdrivers, or ice picks, or projectiles such as bullets.
- Blunt head injuries occur when a blunt object, like a club or baseball bat, strikes the skull or from an object that quickly decelerates head movement, like hitting one’s head during a car accident.
Both types of injuries are dangerous and can cause skull fractures, hemorrhages or aneurysms, and brain damage including concussion and contusion. All of these injuries have severe implications that may lead to death.
Sometimes, deaths caused by head injuries are due to negligence, making them wrongful death cases. Such instances may include being shot by a stray bullet, being injured on an unsafe amusement park rides, or slipping on a wet floor.
