A Mount Savage man has been sentenced to a 9 month term in prison as a result of an accident that took the life of an 79 year-old woman. The woman was on the shoulder of a highway before being struck and killed by the man.
Investigators found out that the man had two drugs in his system at the time. The drugs were Oxycodone, a pain prescription, and Alprazolam which is an anti-anxiety prescription medication. Although the man had a prescription for both of these controlled substances, he ingested large amounts of them before the accident.
The man will have to under-go substance abuse programs and other programs after he is released. Further, after the 9 months of prison, the man will have to be under probation.
