Law Could End Cell Phone Use While Driving

Posted on November 23rd, 2009 1 Comment

A bill that is currently being discussed in the state legislator is attempting to ban texting while driving.  The bill may have other amendments added to it that could even make it illegal to talk on the phone while driving.

Many serious accidents occur each year because of distracted drivers.  One of the most serious distractions is the use of a cell phone while driving,  particularly texting and driving is extremely dangerous.  The new law would hope to reduce the number of distracted drivers on the road.  This could lead to several lives being saved in the state if accidents can be reduced.

A Pennsylvania man has recently pleaded guilty to an accident in which the man was driving drunk and crashed.  The accident resulted in the death of the man's friend.

According to officials,  the man was driving a car owned by the individual who was killed when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.  The accident resulted in the passenger being killed.  Police conducted a test of the concentration of alcohol in the driver's blood stream and found it to be nearly three times the legal limit.

The man has shown a lot of remorse related to the accident because he was close friends with the victim.  This was a major factor in pleading guilty and taking a plea deal.

Grease Fire Kills 3 Pennsylvania Children

Posted on November 5th, 2009 No Comments

Three Pennsylvania children were killed in their home following an accidental grease fire that occurred in late October.

The fire initially started in the kitchen on the stove top.  A resident at the home attempted to put the grease fire out with water,  but instead it caused the fire to spread.  Several individuals were able to escape the house before it went completely up in flames,  however three young children lost their lives as a result of the accident. The ages of those that were killed were nine, two, and six years-of-age.

If a grease fire occurs,  the individual should attempt to use a fire extinguisher or to use something to smother the fire.  Water will only spread the oil that is burning,  causing the fire to spread quickly.
