A 59-year-old man in Australia has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit after having over 80 percent of his stomach removed due to a misdiagnosis of stomach cancer.
After chemotherapy was performed and his stomach removed, it was revealed that the patient never suffered from stomach cancer to begin with. It wasn’t until a post-op evaluation was conducted that it was determined the lymph nodes that were removed showed no signs of cancer in the individual.
A lawsuit has been filed and the man is seeking compensation for his injuries and also an apology. After the misdiagnosis was revealed, the patient suffered from depression and has lost the ability to sit down while eating a full meal.
